Jobeth Copping-Barrett
Senior Associate
Jobeth joined Bermans in January 2025 and is a Senior Associate in the Private Client Department; having moved from a firm in Wilmslow, Cheshire. Jobeth completed her LLB Law Degree in 2010 at City, University of London, followed by a Master’s degree at the University of Birmingham; before completing her Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Manchester.
Jobeth is able to support clients in all matters future planning, including:
– Wills: be these single or mirror Wills, amendments or first-time preparations, Jobeth will review your circumstances and prepare a Will personalised and specific to you;
– Lasting powers of attorney applications: Jobeth is experienced in taking time with you to ensure that the attorneys chosen are the most suitable for the role and, whether preferences or instructions should be specified in the event attorneys may require further guidance in the course of their role;
– Trusts: it may be that a Will trust is the most appropriate for future safeguarding of your assets. Alternatively, a review of your assets with Jobeth may reveal that the creation of a trust framework during your lifetime is a more appropriate option;
– Probate applications and estate administration: Jobeth’s calm and organised approach to all things administration following a bereavement allow for a careful analysis of whether a simple probate application with a brief period administration will satisfy the circumstances, or whether an enhanced package of support utilising her network of accountants and valuation experts is more appropriate.
Jobeth’s career has always been with the end goal of following her passion for helping people navigate their way through an emotionally difficult time, in her specific field as a solicitor. Jobeth prides herself on being compassionate, supportive and extremely approachable and is experienced in preparing detailed single wills and guiding couples in complex mirror wills. Jobeth has dealt with a variety of estates with a range of unusual challenges including missing beneficiaries and international assets.
Outside of work, Jobeth enjoys spending time outside with her family, honing her gardening skills or in the countryside with their cocker spaniel. Jobeth has played netball since university and now plays in local competitive leagues.
