Bermans announces successful year in 2014 due to buoyant SME marketplace

North West law firm Bermans says it experienced considerable growth in 2014.

The firm which has offices in Liverpool and Manchester provides a full range of commercial services as well a market leading national asset finance and invoice finance offering, secured significant new client wins as well as taking on new staff and adding new practice areas.

Fergal O’Cleirigh,  partner in the firm’s Liverpool office said:

“In the commercial area of the business our main client base is local and regional based SMEs and there is certainly a renewed confidence in this marketplace. Our corporate team acted on over 50 transactions last year and we saw a particular increase in Management Buy Outs which is a very positive sign as these had dipped in recent years. Fee income was up 14% for the financial year 2013 –  2014 and we expect this growth to continue this year.”

“The local and regional property market is also picking up and we acted on several major transactions for overseas clients who have identified the North West as an area they are keen to invest in. In addition our litigation and employment teams had several significant new client wins and this looks set to continue into this year. This increase in new instructions and new client wins has enabled us to expand our firm by recruiting 6 new staff last year in key practice areas and we also added private client as a new practice area in response to a demand for bespoke private client services from our business owner clients. There  is already a steady pipeline of work for the beginning of this year which looks set to continue which is great news for us as well as the local economy.”
